Richard: Question about Screen Angle, Brightness and Shadows

The brightness of an image and the amount of details that I see in the shadows of an image depends on the angle of the screen on my laptop.

When the screen is vertical (at 90 degrees to the keyboard), the image is lighter and I see more details in the shadows.

As the screen becomes more and more horizontal (closer to 180 degrees to the keyboard), the image becomes darker, more saturated and I loose details in the shadows.

Should the angle be set so that the screen brightness matches the print output? Sometimes I find that my prints are too dark although they look okay on my screen.

Is there any recommendation concerning setting the angle of the screen on a laptop?

Tough call..I think each device would have it's own best angle...

I would say that you should look at a 10 step gray wedge and see what angle looks the best then try to work at that point...
