So Far So Good the shadows look great....
The color...hmmm...Try another neutral and bump up the saturation...the hue clock on the little girls face should show the hand pointint to between 12:00 and 1-1:30 ish...
I did not use a skin pin I only changed the neutral...

Will do. Honestly can't recall what I used for my neutral. It looks like you are using the shadowy underbelly of one of the horses. Hadn't thought of that. I know I tried that silver grey streak on the vertical rolled up tarp but didn't like the result. Is the girl's face the only cue that tipped you off that the color was off or were there any other things? BTW, I think I used your lizard tail technique to get that shadow out -- but I was a little tired when I did this last night (having fought with the kite flyers) so I'm a little hazy on just what the heck I did.

Hey Brian,
Take a look at the L channel and see if you can bring the shape back into the necks of the ponies. The steep curve opens the shadows but you have to bring it back near the center sooner. The long slope you have opens the mid tones too much. It flattens the image overall.
Try a curve like the second one shown below. Your color is close...

Here is another try . . . bringing out more detail in the necks. I used a mask so I could concentrate there. Your curve is much more severe than I could attain both with and without a mask. Is that for illustrative purposes or is that your real curve?

My curve is real.
I took your curve and removed the middle point. I then placed a new point on the curve near where the final one is and pulled it down until I was satisfied with the ponies.
you can make the curve window bigger by dragging the window frame to the left. If you have the L channel tab selected and you use about 1/2 of the screen you can get a better adjustment. Sometimes when I have trouble with adjustments I will make the curve grid as big as possible and then you have "room" to adjust.
Try using that to see if the adjustment gets better.
