Here are my two attempts with a screen shot of the lab.
The RGB is not as colorful.

Steve...Let's back the LAB duck down to 1.25 to 1.50 on the saturation slider and see if it looks more pleasing...

Yeah, I overdid it.  Here are two versions, both pretty similar.  The second- I added some contrast.

S2A seems to have some color issues...yellow green to be exact...Remember that color cast in the highlights and near highlights is far easier to see than in the shadows.

If you Remember that white and Black can be another source of a neutral you might get a cleaner looking duck.  The white breast feathers help this image more than the leg band in this case...
