hello everyone
The first image is lab and I prefer the colour in this one. When I tried to use the lightness slider in lab the image went really strange. Is this a no-no or did I do something wrong.

Nicely done...
I'm not sure why the saturation went all wacko on you. Is it consistently doing that??
Overall the RGB duck has a better neutral. The Lab duck appears to be slightly green but it has better contrast overall. The choice of neutral might be effecting the overall image.
I think you did just fine for this assignment..Try opening the RGB duck again in LAB and using the saturation slider. I was able to go quite far before the duck looked overall too odd.

Hi Greg
Its not the saturation, its the brightness slider in the wizard. Its ok if I just adjust that alone, but if i have used the wizard to set shadow and highlight it gets weird. Its ok in rgb
It looks like I have set shadow again (sort of). I have included a screen shot. I had only adjusted the slider a little

Julie,
Your first screen shot points out a problem with the wizard. If you look at the Curve window behind the wizard you will see a curve that should not be applied to the image.
Let's turn off the wizard and re-do the duck manually. I'm betting you will get much better results. We turn off the wizard after this image anyway.
