Here is my swing at the pretty boy....
First problem I saw in the image was the green hair on his underside. I also had a blue cast in the snout I wanted to get rid of. So with 2 different colors to tackle I used a "By The Numbers" approach in RGB to begin this correction.
Shot1 shows the selected S/H/N points I chose for the image.
Shot2 shows the BTN correction for these selected points.
Apply the changes and close CM
After I had the image in a better color balance I then wanted to make the greens and yellows come out more. I opened the image in CM using the LAB space this time and adjusted the green and yellow parts of the image as shown. Shot3
More in the next post.
Greg
Let's see how beautiful you can make this one....
Pretty Boy Continued...
After the color was pumped up to my liking I then applied the changes and exited CM. I then went on to sharpening. I used the High Pass filter with the settings shown in Shot 4 and Shot5.
The finished Image...

Hi - what a difficult image.
She/He looks a little drab, so I added a spot of colour to bring out the hairs all over that lovely body. No sharpening as I reckoned there was enough with the colour difference.
Zog
PS. I didn't know you had started the next course or I would have joined you earlier - good luck

Hi Chris...
Glad you took a swipe at this one. He does kind of grow on you...
As I look at the others I feel like I dropped the ball on the blue channel. This may require another revisit...
I guess that is the beauty of this part of the class...I get to show that I'm not perfect either....
Thanks for the good wishes...

I tried to place the image and got some wierdness [img][/img] - to me that is. And PS Elements doesn't have a File-Cop. So...no image to accompany this.
I greatly reduced the green in the background. I was hoping to find a color space that allowed me to reduce the saturation in the green but couldn't. So I selected yon porker, reversed the selection and reduced saturation. Having selected our friend I tried to give him a little more contrast and oomph.
