I  started from wgCMY to controll the sidewalk colors,then a lot of other work in lab.Tough image.GregM
Picture as display here has some color shifts from image on my monitor,skin is better but curb and drain have shifted a little blue.

How do the skin tones measure on your system??
Mine are really red with your curves applied...I must be missing parts of you total solution.

I am really struck by how blue this image is..
I took your image back into RGB and worked on the blue. 
The red is messed up in the shadows and needed help as well...

I know you wanted CMYK but the Y channel is AWOL in parts of the image and that is giving the blue a free run of the image...

Posted reworked image above.Changed settings in CMYK,then worked on blue in Lab.Skin seems OK till you take readings.
Think grime on urchin may be throwing off measurments.GregM

This little image is one of my favorites - not taken by me but by a former member of the class. 

Yes, number 6 really shows an improvement.  The sidewalk is a nice gray color, and the skin tones are more natural.  Plus you can see the scratch on his knee, that he is showing to us. 

I suspect those are scratches on his face too, which is the humor for me.  He's busy showing us a relatively tiny scratch, when his face is the real "disaster zone".  Consistent with the humor, his scratches should be visible, but not overwhelm us to the point that we think the photographer should have called 999, LOL.
