New Preflight Software Released as Freeware for Prepress

There is a new preflight software just released in beta to the graphic arts.  It's called FreeFlight, that's because it is a free tool for graphic designers, printers and prepress operators to download and check graphic files with.  It's very fast, it's very easy to use and is free of charge.  Have a look, their site is

Most graphic designers and desktop publishers can't afford the expensive tools like Markzware FlightCheck™, a great application, costing as much as $400 ea. This leaves them processing files to PDF with no way to verify color space, font usage and file formats.

Yesterday I ran it on a job.  I took my images folder full of placed Tiffs, Jpegs, EPS etc.  It took about a second per file and found 4 RGB files for me to convert.  Worked great.  It doesn't do everything, but is a very valuable tool.  Check it out.
