First the skin

then the shadows

I tried moving the end points, but defaulted to control click on a shadow and moving individual curves.

I was trying to make the hour hand as short as possible within the correct range?

Things I'd like to know:
I applied my lab moves and closed CM, then re-opened CM to move into RGB for the shadows.  Can I just click on RGB and tackle the shadows without affecting my color pins for skin tones?

Hi Manda,

Not bad at all.  I particularly like the way that you have a process going with multiple color spaces.  The shadows are still very blue, and the pavement is now reddish.  I've been experimenting with this image during the week, and for the video I will most likely do a single correction in RGB mode, with hue clocks on the shadowed parts of the three faces, the asphalt, and one of the deeper shadows on the asphalt.  In RGB it is possible to do a single correction that gets rid of the blue asphalt shadow (by changing the dark 1/4 of the blue and green curves).  Once this is done, the shadows of the faces are a good skin tone as well.

It's a good technique to ctrl-click to establish initial curve points for an adjustment.

Re the question about switching to RGB after Lab.  Any active pins you have will be carried over to RGB, but the curves will not, so it is necessary to click "Apply" and come back in to Curvemeister, to apply two sets of curves.  This is also a good technique.

Not to complicate things and maybe this belongs in the Beta string....

Is there a way for the program to apply the changes without exit (new version)?  Or are we talking too much undo functionality required?

It would help in this exact situation.  Maybe offer the ability with a warning dialog box or under another button like "apply current" i.e. "You are going to apply the current curves to this image and this process cannot be undone without closing the image completely with no save, do you wish to continue?"

Just a thought...

It's certainly possible to add this feature, and it would not be that hard, even with the undo feature.  The amount of effort would be easier than it was to add masks, for example.  There would be a little extra memory overhead, and perhaps more of a delay after zooming or panning, and a fair amount of software to write.

The main reason I hesitate is that I wonder if people would actually use it, and if the additional convenience would be substantial enough.
