I think the reason there is a yellow cast when reading thru the plate is that the plate is acting like a light pipe and transmitting the color from the yellow part of the rug thru the plate. If I were to work on the image I would ignore it as its probably not easily correctable if at all.

I like the light pipe idea, though it differs from my own theory.  I do  agree that one or two points of yellow is not going to be visible.
