Mike,

I'm trying to understand the Catepillar use on the composite graph in RGB.
Since the layers overlap the topmost layer gets the most of the catepillar.

Besides the pretty colors... what information am i getting from this catepillar?  I need to go to a specific channel to get the entire catepillar for that channel.  I have also noted that the catepillar is not a complet line but rather segments of each color.

I'm just curious...

The segments are copies of the caterpillars from the other channels, shown with the color of that channel.  I wanted to draw semi-transparent caterpillars, so you could see each one when they overlap, but at least for now that's too hard to do.  So I draw them in channel order, with channel zero on top.

One of the things I like about displaying three worms on the RGB channel is that it shows how hard it is to change a particular color from the RGB curve.  Unless the worms overlap perfectly, using the RGB curve will distort the color.

ok..but maybe the overlap should be grey...to let you know that all colors are in there...

The impression I get is the Red is "here" the Green is "here" and the Blue is "here"...
It is less intuitive the problem is what happens if the Red is the largest..With your current scheme I would only see the Red and still not know what is under there...

I'll strongly consider  displaying them in order - largest to smallest.  That way a smaller sample would always be visible on top of a larger one.  We are getting to the point, though, that I need to stop adding features and get ready to release.

Target date for release s Oct 17!
