Or whatever it's called! I can't help but notice that the only thing on the interface that doesn't have a little identifier when scrolled over is the pin icon on the toolbar. I'm just sayin'...

Yes, you're right that this is a bit confusing.  The pin palette, and the button that is used to show and hide it, is next in line for an overhaul, after the mask carte.

not so much confusing as just discrepant.  I never know whether these little discrepancies are an oversight, or have some purpose. I guess it's neither--you just aren't finished :)
