Used CM in lab mode.  Adjusted with thresholds.  Used saturation slider.  Sharpened with Unsharp Mask.

I didn't try to match with results of exercise 1.

How do you capture the curve display to include with the image?

Sorry for the late response....
I use a screen capture tool called Gadwin printscreen.  It allows you to select an area to capture.

as to your image...

You have the highlight and shadow well defined.  Can you increase the saturation??  If you are happy with the image leave it be.  I am working from a laptop and sometimes the color is a bit lacking...
