It bothered me so I straightened the image first. Kept on bringing up too much magenta color noise.

Not bad at all - this is the image that you get with Lab, adjusting only the endpoints of the Lightness curve.
Now that you mention it, the image is a bit crooked. It was taken from the Staten Island ferry with a long telephoto.
