Mike,

I followed the lesson precisely and did the duck with the RGB mode.
Iit is different because the  saturation mode is grayed out.
also I do not use the floiting neutral mode. ( That is for a later moment)

I did it with the wizard, but used the RGB mode.
I could make the sky more blue, but for this moment, I do not know it.

Manda

you know , you can attach pictures with a maximum of 200K. so saving your picture in a bigger format would be pleasure me

The neutral was confusing - I went for under the bike as I know the seat has grey on it (just like mine)>then I moved the neutral point around & watched the curves dialogue, when it hit the the centre of the line in the curves grid I set it on the arm (which was a surprise to me).

white could also be a neutral. You could see, that the shorts have a blue cast. So you can and may place the neutral on the shorts.

In this case it is not special necessarily, to use a whitepoint.

Fritz,
I split this topic off from Manda's so I can keep it all straight...

I'll have more for you later today...Nice to see you here...Greetings!

Hope to not confuse you...

GREG,
indeed, it is better that each person has its own thread for his work.

Greg,
when I  experiment wit the photo with the metalic balls, then there is a small strange thing.
You place a white point on a ball.
then you can move the whitepoint on the ball to see the effect of it.
You see there are a lot of white around it.
But when I not place a whitepoint, and do it on the other way with the shifting of the curve to the left, then I have learned in earlier lessons that you reach the right point when you see the first white spikes.
so it looks to me better the last way.
I can't manage the whitepoint on a way that I get the same result with shifting the curve.

I have tried to catch all in a picture, but it will not succeeded. So you mus trie it yourself.

This example , i had before,
I could look at the old results, also what mike has made of it.
I have not done also.
But I remember, that mike has a more satisfied result.
I have spent not much time on this.
Switching to RGB gives a better result.
But I nearly always work in Lab mode.

For the duck your image looks good.  You seem to have picked up a bit of a green cast but nothing to worry about at this point.  We really are just getting the shadow/highlight /neutral drill going here...
