Nice job, Joy.  One interesting thing about the a channel is that people who are red-green color blind are unable to see changes in the a channel, so this gives us an idea of how the world looks, to them.  Color blind folks - and there have been quite a few in the class - can still solve this puzzle by using the hue clock.
