Greg. I am still having trouble with the Monkey exercise.  Sometimes my Clock window has the lock symbol and sometimes it doesn't.  Can't find how to switch it on and off.  Also sometimes after I set a pin the little window with the clock disappears.  How do I get it back?  All this is probably explained somewhere but I can't find where.

When you drag a pin out to the image it includes the lock. 
Lower Hue Clock

If you Alt-click on the image you set a hue clock but do not link to it. 
Upper Hue Clock

If you ctrl-click you set a control point on the curve.
Control point on the L curve.
