I tried to do this one only in Lab. 2 steps saved first, then back with 2nd. Tried to keep skin colour of the 2 people in image normal. When I pumped the slider, the 2 persons got very red-faced :)

You may have wanted to push the contrast a bit more but the colors look good.
As for the skin tones...Yes they are saturated but notice that they are not shiffted too far fom the 12:00 to 1:30 clock positions that we like to see for skin tones.
