Well, I'm amazed, I think I did a much better job in rgb than lab.

Mainly because I could not get rid of the yellow earth when setting a neutral in lab.

I also failed to remove one of the A channel neutral pin Greg - it would not be carried off the dialog and there was no option to delete it.  What am I doing wrong to release one of the pins on a curve?

nope - I've blown his forehead - concentrating too much on the fur
so this rgb is a little better

Here is my attempt at the bear.  I thought Mikes Lab version made the grass a little too fluorescent, so I stopped a little short of that.

Russ, your bear looks fine...good work...

Zog,
Since the bear is the main focus for the image, I was OK with the background being warm.  I found only a few areas where the L hit 100.  there was still color in the fur at that point...

my version is attached...note the saturation and the heel of the lightness curve.
