Greg, I figured out how to "select" the curve lines so they would move together. I click on the top, held the shift key down and clicked on the bottom curve line. Then both ends moved together.
Here's my purple down. Neat way to make a mask.

Did you blur the mask any??  It looks like the edges are a bit off in the inside of his back legs...

It is a great way to make a fast mask...and you have access to all the channels at the same time...something the color theory group is trying to figure out how to do today in the postings....

I didn't blur the mask but after I was finished I cleaned up the grass so the photo is blurred.
