I used a K mask and LAB to do this.
I then did a second pass in LAB to bump the colors. After I got back, I lowered the opacity.

Remember this image is about balancing the two halves of the image. You need to make the tonality match and then add saturation. A blurred Saturation Mask really can make this image pop...
In Shot 1 I have a Saturation mask with light blur applied to it. I have then adjusted your posted version using this mask to bring the tonality down in the lower half and add a ton of color using saturation slider.
