Here is a lab version.  I could not load the curves in from the prior pass.  I thought I would try in alternate color spaces.  Weird.

How odd...
Leave the mask a bit open so that shadows are black as well...

Did you notice that the tassels were red in the background of version one?  In cmyk for some reason, the mask does not cover the entire image.

I will fix the shadows. 

The screen share session was great.
