Worked out kinks in photoshop 10. Delayed turn-ins because PSE 8 was corrupted. Sorry for out of sequence work.

Did you bring the mask out to the layer in PSE? if you did then you need to paint out the white spots around the dog so tha tthe purple blotches go away. If you did not then as far as the mask goes you did well but I would remove the blotches...
