Everyone,
If you are participating in the conference call on Friday's you will need some software to do this.

Currently, I use Skype for the audio portion of the calls...it is free and it does not cause too many problems with the video recording process.  If you wish to be on the call please download and install Skype.  My Skype user ID is ggroess.  I am located in Minneapolis Minnesota.  Send me an invite using the Skype search tools and I'll add you to a group for the Friday call.  Please also post your ID to this thread so I can find you if needed.

For the video portion of the call you will need to get a small tool from go.Mikogo.com.

you will need to choose the connection program method and save the connection program to your desktop after you have the session ID from me on the given Friday.

So...The process will go as follows:
1) I'll be on the Skype session 10 minutes prior to the call looking for others to join up.  For the first session please be a bit early as we usually have some connection problems.

2) After we are all on the Skype session I will ask you to go to go.mikogo.com and enter your name and the session ID.  You then download the connection program After the ID is in the field.  Run the program after you have it downloaded and it will join you to my desktop. (hopefully you will then see my cluttered computer desktop)

3) Please mute your microphone unless you are asking a question or are making comments as a part of the discussion.  Past experience has shown that background noise makes the video recording hard to follow during playback.

4) There will be some lag between myself and the people in overseas locations ..there is not much I can do about that...sorry...I will slow down as we work and please let me know if you are not seeing the video portion very well.  The recorded video is usually just fine and you can watch that again later...

I will be recording the screen share sessions for you to watch again if you like and so that people who miss the session can see what we covered.  These videos will be posted in a day or two after the session.  I will edit moderately add zooms and mouse click markers and then post a link for you to watch again if you choose.

If you want to; please send me one image or post the image to this thread, that you want me to work on. Your images are most helpful in extending the learning to something you want to cover.

Finally...these sessions are for you...please try to attend.  If you want a sample of the calls go to the Curvemeister videos on YouTube and watch a conference call.  Ours will be similar but more focused on the class materials.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrG2ZcWc32Q

Please ask questions about this if you are unsure.

Hi Greg,

is there already a time for the friday call?
Maybe I don't have to install these programms, because I'm working till 7pm local time.

By the way... I have a little problem by export a mask out of curvemeister and have a really stupid problem with the menu.
Is that something for later in the class or better solved before?

Greetings, Tanja

Masking is a bit later in the class but what is the problem? Please start a new topic for the question.

There is not a time yet for the call but I'll start by asking for locations and times that work for people...

Greg: what time (central, your time zone, U.S.) will you be doing the video session on Friday morning.  I am in Cincinnati, one hour later than you.  My skype name is cognetr23.  Please inform me whether you received my "invite."  I used the search tool and input your id and it showed that you were now listed?  Is that all that needs to be done?  Also, do you recommend I get earphones, because your photo showed you with some.  I didn't have time to set up a pix i.d., sorry.

thanks.

The first Conference Call will be next Friday April 5th.

I will need to know where everyone lives so I can post some proposed times and we can deal with time zones then we can agree to meet.
My goal is to find a time that most of the class if not all can attend.

It is no problem, when we don't find a time together. I'm working til mabe 18:30 pm local time or later on friday. At home mabe at 19 or 19:30pm.
I can watch the video later...

Greg:

As you know last Friday I was unable to participate in the discussion because of technical problems.  You indicated in a previous post that 'a long-term solution' to the problem was being sought.

Please tell me if the solution has been found so that I may participate.

thank you.

Dan,
I have posted int eh conference call thread that I will be using a new piece of software to screen share this week.  The software will allow 10 seats and 1 controller.  You am hopeful that you should have no problem this week.

I will be testing it a bit tonight to see if there is a lag issue if I can get Tanja to agree.

Greg
