I've finished the first week's assignments and am attaching my results.  I totally misunderstood the number ones and tried to adjust them to black and white with the most contrast.

Tina,
Good Job overall.  A few minor details remain...

Ok, maybe not so minor but fixable...First things first.  There is a magenta cast in the shadows overall.  See the screen shots below.  It is not a big deal because the By the Numbers part of the class is this week  and next and you should do a BTN correction on this image in RGB to get the color right.

Also there is a heaviness to the image overall that a slight brightening of the whole image improves.

Overall a good recovery of the image and you made a great choice for your neutral on the white side of the boat.  I added a midtone neutral from the splash on the right of the frame.

re: Lady Liberty.  Solid work.  Anything I do to it makes it look worse.  Nicely done...

re: The Balls in the Fountain.  Again nicely done.  Anything else and again you start to hurt the image more than you help it...

re: Yellow Flowers.  See screen shot below.  Good job keeping the hues all in the same area.  The greens look good and the yellows are all consistent.

re: Ellis Island Building.  You might want to try to saturate it a bit more but it is a subjective problem.  I see the bricks as being a bit mute but I understand if you think they are too far.  It's hard to get over the "fear" of over saturation.  The image is in a good place but try bumping the saturation and see if it's better for you...If not hold your ground on it...

re: the numbers.  They all look pretty good. The second set of 1-2 looks a bit dark but otherwise they are good.

Nicely done...
