Black or crash on Load curves from image

I opened a PSD file which I last edited (including CM3 work) a few days ago. I can't remember exactly what I did with it. I think I might have used wgCMYK mode to tweak it. Anyway, CM3 came up in wgCMYK mode, and I went straight to the Curves ribbon and clicked "Load curves from image". Down it all went, PS included.

I've tried to reproduce this, and have not been entirely successful. What normally seems to happen is that the image preview just goes completely black, with the curves being straight diagonal lines.

Thanks, Derek.  The image contains a poison pill written by a previous version.  I fixed the bug by not writing the poison pill, but did not change the part of Curvemeister that reads it.
