Mike,
When you say "create" are you talking from a blank image or just opening an image in LAB?

I opened an image in LAB and the first thing I did was set a shadow point.  The program took about 5 seconds to respond, I thought "wow here it comes"...but then it came back with a shadow point set.  The next time I did this the program responded immediately for this image...I was able to drag the shadow around and the threshold masking was spot on and responsive.

Is there something being loaded into RAM with the setting of shadow/highlight/neutral?  I just seemed slow at first...

I noticed this type of behavior yesterday as well, Greg...it's as if there are tiny elves inside my computer correcting problems as I come to them...

Yep, it's elves in the computer.  Actually, that would explain a lot ...

Back to Greg's question - Trond jsut sent me an email saying that he uses ctrl-alt click to set the shadow point.  Sure enough, I can get the crash now every time.

It's not an elf after all, but a Zebra.
