Funny you should ask that.
I bought a calibrator a while ago and have been too nervous to try it so far.
I had lots of time today so gave it a go.
It was fairly simple really and has changed things a bit.
Not a lot, but it doesn't take much for things to look seriously out of whack.
I think I will see how things go now and get back to the forum in a few days.

I hope I don't have to recorrect too much!

After converting your posted GIF to Jpeg...

The color of the sky is a bit off but where did you set the neutral?  When I set a neutral on the pulley of the crane and most of the sky problem went away...

This is straight out of the camera with no adjustment.
I guess I was wondering why the skies often seem to need a fair bit of work.
Is it because I am used to  jpegs which have been processed by the camera?
Could the uv filter be causing any problems?
Or is it just how the technology is?

Ahh...missed that part...
Yep..it's the Raw data needing a bit of a tweak. 

If you set the White Balance manually you might see some improvement.  Some Cameras have a Saturation and Vibrancy setting as well. 
You might want to check to see if you have them tweaked a bit.

The first thing I saw when looking at the image was a black spot near center at top of structure.....dust in camera?

Blue skies are rather subjective and too much cyan may be present...get the neutral grays correct and sky usually follows as OK.

Sometimes comparing to the auto convert from camera to .jpg or auto color/contrast/tone in Ps also makes for a good comparison or starting point.

But neither is usually what you want for a final color correction.  Fix only what you 'know to the correct color for it' and the rest of the image will be correct as well, in most cases.
